Sean Bohan, LF Decentralized Trust
Monday, August 25, 2025 | 11:20 – 12:00 CEST | Room TBA
As Europe accelerates toward digital sovereignty, public infrastructure is rapidly evolving to support secure, cross-border digital services. In this Q&A session, Sean Bohan of LF Decentralized Trust joins the incoming director of Europeum EDIC to explore the rollout of the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) and its role in reshaping trust in the digital public sector.
Together, they will examine how EBSI enables verifiable credentials for education, healthcare, travel, and intellectual property protection, while addressing the challenges of interoperability across diverse regulatory and technical landscapes. The discussion will also highlight the strategic decision to build on Besu (an enterprise Ethereum client), and the critical role of open source and decentralized technologies in creating resilient, transparent verification systems at scale.
Key topics:
-
EBSI-supported services for citizens and businesses
-
Overcoming adoption and integration barriers across EU member states
-
Open source and decentralized models for digital trust
-
Technical and governance insights behind Europe's largest blockchain-based public infrastructure initiative
