Growth of the digital asset market has brought about new forms of cyber threats and attacks, impacting individuals, businesses, and governments alike. These threats include double-spending, 51% attacks, phishing attacks, Sybil attacks, and smart contract vulnerability exploitation, to name but a few.
A surge in cryptocurrency-fueled ransomware attacks has also affected various sectors of commerce, making them increasingly susceptible to cyber risk. In response, MITRE developed the Adversarial Actions in Digital Asset Payment Technologies™ (AADAPT™) cyber threat framework to allow users to analyze and secure digital asset management systems. AADAPT™ provides a structured approach to identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential vulnerabilities and risks and helps inform the engineering and implementation of these systems while also serving as a knowledge base and reference taxonomy.
